Last Day of Work!

Today was my last day of work! I can't believe it has come and gone already!

It was such an odd day too, it was eerily quiet for a Friday. Usually Fridays are really busy as people realize the week-end is coming and the illnesses and injuries that they have been monitoring all week, should probably seen before the week-end when we're closed....but not today. There was only one afternoon appointment, and things were so....lazy and mellow.

When I look back it's been a bit of an odd week actually. I'm not sure if it stems from the fact that my boss just sold his practice and we are about to have a new boss, or the fact that we've had TV crews coming by the last few days to talk about e-coli poisoning, or even that I knew it was my last week and just didn't let stuff stress me out, but it's just felt strange all week.

It's funny, I thought I would be ecstatic to be done, and am rather surprised that I am not. Leaving was a lot sadder than I expected. My boss said some really nice stuff to me, several clients came by to say good-bye (got another pan of nanaimo bars, yummm) and I was given some really nice cards. It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster!

Saying goodbye to Ivan (our clinic cat) was probably the hardest part. I've grown rather attached to the little guy over the last 2 1/2 years, and love him as much as if he were my own cat. I know he's gotten rather attached to me as well, as I was told he missed me while I was on my honeymoon and was quite mopey until I got back. I'll have to visit him next time I'm in town.

No matter, I'm all done and next week we pack up the pigs and all of our belongings and make the trek to Edmonton. Thank-god there's an enormous mall there to welcome me!
