Well 2005 is off to a pretty good start, especially since I did end up getting that job at the vet clinic and it seems to be going well so far. The best part of the New Year so far though is I got to spend a fabulous New Years Eve in Calgary with some really great friends, including one Jen Becker who flew in from Ottawa to join us.
My sister got a big group of people together and we went to Jubilations dinner theatre to see "Canadian Disco Idol". The rest of the audience was dressed in nice suits and fancy dresses, but we went with the disco theme and all dressed in disco clothes. We were a huge hit. The show called for a lot of audience participation and since we were dressed for the part, we got called on a lot. The manager even came over after the show and personally thanked us for dressing up and being so enthusiastic. They loved us. We were apparently the first people to dress up like that. Go figure.
The show was a funny, the food was pretty good, and even though the dancing after the show got off to a bit of a slow start (they played some pretty crummy music to appease the older crowd) we had a really great time. We didn't even really drink that much and we even skipped the midnight buffet too. The plan was to go over to Aussie rules after the show (it's in the same building and is generally a really fun bar to go to) but it was so smoky and so crowded over there, and the music was better at Jubilations that we decided to just stay over there.
Two days off work just wasn't enough though and before we knew it was time to head back to Edmonton as I had to work on Sunday. I had a great week-end though. It totally made up for missing Santacon and not getting to see my Vancouver friends.
