Blast From the Past

Got a fantastic e-mail the other day, it was from a friend that I haven't seen or spoken to in 21 years! It was quite a pleasant surprise. Our dads worked together for the RCMP, and Bart and I were in the same class for grades 4 and 5. He and his family left Ottawa right after grade 5 and I never thought I would hear from him again. We both signed up for classmates.com though and Bart found my address and got back in touch.

The crazy thing is, we both live in Vancouver! (Well technically he's in Surrey and I'm in Burnaby, but whatever, close enough) Well living that close to each other meant we definitely had to meet up.

We went our for drinks last night and caught up on what we'd been up to for the last 21 years. It was so fun reminiscing about our elementary school days and looking at photos of us way back then. Bart even had a few valentines he'd saved (one was even from me) as well as a little book that the whole class had signed just before he's left. it was most amusing reading back over all the entries. My comment was rather lame "have a nice summer" but then I guess I was only 10 years old.

Here's a picture of us back in grade 5, compared to a picture of us from last night.

Bart's e-mail started a bit of an e-mail landslide. Some e-mail addresses of some girls I haven't talk to since grade 8 got thrown in the mix as well and it's been so great to talk to them again. Andrea and I are both going to be in Ottawa next week, so we're hoping that we can all get together. I'll have to see who else's e-mails I can dig up now!
