Procrastinating

I'm supposed to be starting my job hunt today but have found numerous other tasks to keep me busy instead. I need to clean the pig cage, look into changing my car insurance and driver's license, finish staining and re-assembling the table I'm re-finishing, write some thank-you cards, do some laundry and cleaning, and head back to the mechanics to ask them where the heck the block heater that they installed is......you know, priorities and all.

I had a really nice week-end, my friends Sam and Scott (High School friends from Ottawa) were in town for a wedding, so we met up for some dinner and drinks. I haven't seen them since they got married 2 1/2 years ago so it was nice catching up with them. Even though Eric and I have been together for almost 8 years this was the first time they had a chance to meet him, so that was kind of nice.

It's been a great week for visitors actually. Earlier in the week my friend Jessica (whom I've been friends with since kindergarten) was passing through town as well so she and her husband stayed with us for a few days. It was so nice to have some friendly faces here.

While they were here we checked out the West Edmonton Mall which was a huge disappointment. I mean don't get me wrong its a huge mall, and we had a great time, but after shopping at Metrotown, it's not much of a jump up in size. The only difference is the water park and amusement park tacked on to the side. I guess you just hear so much about it that when you actually see it, it just doesn't measure up to expectations and it doesn't seem like it should be the big tourist attraction it has become.

Still haven't checked out downtown yet but my sister is coming to visit in a few weeks so maybe we'll venture down there while she's here.

Speaking of my sister, I'm headed back down to Calgary for another visit this week-end. I was a bit surprised to find out that there is a "kink night" on Friday night that she and her friends are attending. I never pictured them as the type, but hey I a great time at the one in Vancouver last Halloween so I'm in. Lucky I saved my outfit. Not having much of a nightlife in Edmonton yet, I'm finding myself really looking forward to it. I'll take lots of pictures!!
