Last week-end my sister and her husband came up to Edmonton for a visit. It was funny seeing them again so soon, since I usually only see them a few times a year and I've already since them three times in one month.
Friday we had some drinks and I took them to an Improv show at a theatre a few blocks from here. What a great show! It was long too, two hours, The improvisers were hilarious, and at one point Mark and I were laughing so hard we missed the rest of the skit. As much as I love improv, I've never laughed myself to tears there before, so we'll definitely be going back.
Saturday we did as all people want to do when they first get here, we went to the mall. It was fun though. We started shopping for New Years already. We've booked tickets for Jubilations dinner theatre, followed by Aussie Rules (the club next door). The theme is Disco so we bought some great costume stuff and I'm getting excited for it already, especially since our friend Jen is going to be joining us. She is going to fly to Edmonton and we're going to drive down together. I got silver shiny fabric to make a top, a Farrah Fawcett wig, and some disco-ish Jewellery. Eric's outfit made me laugh, I got him this horrid 70's shirt, an afro, and a big gold necklace...
Whoops I got totally off topic there....um...oh right......The goal of going to the mall was to go go-karting, but unfortunately the track had closed down and poor Mark had to follow Andrea and I around the mall instead. Then we took in some more shopping by wandering up Whyte Ave and checking out the cool shops there.
Sunday we thought we'd try to find another go kart place as Mark really wanted to go and I was all excited since I'd never been. Well apparently none of the race tracks have rentals anymore. The only way you can go go-karting in Edmonton right now is to BUY a Kart. So yeah didn't get much done that day.
I spent the rest of the week scrapbooking. Tough life I know, but I'm on a role! I can't do wedding pics or stagette pictures until I get Jen's pictures, but I've got most of the way through our honeymoon. I will have to be more selective with the wedding pics, or less fancy since I only had 150 honey moon pictures and I probably have 5 times that many of the wedding, stagette, and Seattle trip. It's taking me forever, so it's a good thing I like it.
I had a job interview at the SPCA yesterday to be an "animal care attendant", but found out at the end of the interview that they only pay minimum wages. I think the job would be fun but I can't make a living on minimum wage at this stage in my life. I am also extremely over-qualified for the position so if I get the job I've decided to turn it down and look into maybe volunteering one day a week instead.
Looks like I may end up having to work at a vet clinic again. I didn't like it all that much (emergencies were too stressful) but the pay was much better and it is only for a year. I've been looking into jobs with the agricultural companies here, but so far I'm not qualified for any of the positions that are open.
Got a call from Jon today, he and Peg are going to be in town this week-end. It's thanksgiving this week-end so I guess I'll have to plan a small thanksgiving dinner. My dad and his girlfriend were unable to come up this week-end due to a wedding in Chilliwack, so they are coming up next week-end to celebrate. Andrea has a house, and I only have a one bedroom apartment so the celebration is at her place. My dad picked and odd time to come though, Sunday though Thursday. It's also Oktoberfest next week-end and there's big party in Calgary, so we're going down on the Friday so we can catch that. I'm not sure if Eric is able to come or not, he's so busy with school.
Wow busy week-ends. The week-end after my dad's visit is Ed and MoMoe's wedding, and Eric and I will be back in Vancouver! Time sure has flown. I'm really looking forward to being back there and seeing everyone again. It's only been a month but I miss everyone a lot and can't wait to see everyone.
I've also been busy planning for the wedding I'm going to in Ottawa in November. My friend Cathy already got married in Italy this past month, but they are having their reception on November 6th. Andrea, Rachel and I are planning her a belated stagette complete with limo ride, coloured wigs and boas, and a lot of alcohol. It will be the first time since we left Ottawa that Andrea and I will be going back together, we've always gone back separately, so it should be a lot of fun. The wedding falls around the same week-end another classmate was trying to plan our 10 year high school reunion. Plans fell through but I think we are going to try to get as many people together as possible and have bit of a mini reunion. I'm quite excited.
It's weird. I have all this free time on my hands, but I feel so busy!!
